Where will the Little Board meeting be held?
Meetings will be held in the Windmill Theatre Company board room, located on Level 2/39 Light Square, Adelaide College of the Arts, Adelaide SA 5000.
Who attends the meetings?
The Little Board will be made up of 12 members from Years 5 to 10. A Little Board Chair will be appointed by Windmill, and each meeting will be facilitated and supervised by a Windmill staff member and/or professional theatre maker. All Windmill employees have a valid Working with Children Check.
Does a parent/guardian need to attend the meetings?
No, parents/guardians do not attend meetings. Little Board meetings will be supervised by an employee of Windmill at all times.
We encourage parents/guardians to drop off members in the lobby of the Adelaide College of the Arts located on the ground floor. The Windmill office is located on Level 2. Parent/guardians are welcome to wait in the lobby if they would like to.
What’s the car parking situation like?
There is paid street parking, open air and private undercover parking located around Light Square and off Currie Street.
What will Little Board members do?
Each meeting is different! We’ll explore the world of performance art and consider art as activism, art as being, art as doing. Members will be asked to consider the age-old questions: What is art? What makes an artist? They’ll learn how productions come together, how to form ideas from scratch and how to use art to express ideas, concepts and stories.
For example, one session will include setting our Board Charter, then deep diving into the practices of Andy Warhol. Another might be reviewing the materials that have inspired some of our works in development. Another might be improv!
What do Little Board members need to bring to each meeting?
Ideas, thoughts, burning questions! Everything else (including snacks!) is supplied by Windmill.
Will Little Board members be paid a fee?
No. The position is voluntary and there are no costs incurred by members.
What do Little Board members need to wear?
Comfortable clothing. Closed toe shoes are recommended in case the meetings involve some movement. School uniform is fine.
What happens if you can’t attend a meeting?
It is expected that members attend every meeting in person, but we get it. Sometimes life gets in the way! We want the meetings to be collaborative so attending in person is essential.
